Virgin Islands History Museum – Preserving heritage, inspiring curiosity:
The 1926 Museum is a meaningful addition to the BVI’s cultural landscape. It will highlight the story of the Fancy Me, which is one of the many Tortola Sloops that contributed to shaping Virgin Islands maritime legacy, one precious trip of cargo at a time. The museum’s aim is to aid in fostering Virgin Islands pride by welcoming students, the elderly, and curious visitors, as it showcases cherished artefacts like coal pots, kerosene lamps, vintage photographs, and traditional tools of the maritime industry. Contributions from the community are encouraged, thus making this space a living tribute to Virgin Islands history.
Originally founded in the 1980s, Groundworks began as a Palm Tree Installation company. It was reinvented in 2006 as a humble landscaping business with just three employees and a truckload of plants. Its first major project was at the A.O. Shirley Recreation Grounds and paved the way for hundreds of successful landscaping jobs across the territory since. Today, Groundworks is recognized as a household name synonymous with quality and growth.
IKON Construction & Groundworks Heavy Equipment – Built on trust, powered by pride and quality:
What started with a pool and a gazebo evolved into a full-service construction company. After Hurricane Irma, IKON Construction was born – rebuilding homes and structures with unmatched durability. From a single truck and backhoe to now a full complement of specialized heavy equipment, IKON and Groundworks Heavy Equipment now constructs everything from gates and fencing to gabions and entire buildings – all with one guiding principle: Quality.

The Plant Nursery & Garden Café – From propagation to plated delicacies:
Groundworks weathered the 2020 pandemic with nothing short of determination and resilience, keeping staff employed and expanding its nursery into a thriving attraction. Today, a large amount of its plants – like Portulaca, Hibiscus, Peace Lilies, Mango, and Suriname Cherry to name a few – are propagated in-house. Coming this season, Visitors will be able to join gardening workshops on propagation, root cutting, re-potting, and grafting.
In November of 2023, Groundworks introduced the Garden Café, which aids in transforming the park into a full-day experience. Serving all-day breakfast, local cuisine, seafood dishes, and ice cream, the café invites guests to linger longer and savor the flavors of the Virgin Islands.
Come for the plants. Stay for the experience. Groundworks is more than a destination—it’s a celebration of nature, culture, and community.
